Sci-Fi Expo Review – by Chad Elijah

Sci- Fi Expo 2014

Hey folks, Lotus Comics here.

Just recently we were press for one of best conventions in the northwest region of Texas: The Sci-fi Expo in Dallas.

They had stars such as Richard Dreyfuss (Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind), Steven Amell (Arrow), Karen Gillan (Dr. Who), and even Peter Weller, the original Robocop himself, and in my opinion, the best Robocop ever. Not to mention Karl Urban (Dredd, Almost Human) and Sylvester McCoy (The Hobbit, Dr. Who). And that was just the movie side! There were also artists, independent and famous that came out to show their support as well. Artists like James o’ Barr (the Crow), Ian Churchill (The Coven, Supergirl) and Terry Moore (The Watchman, V for Vendetta), to name a few.

There were twice as many fans than in previous years, which was unreal. It is one thing to be a fan, but, for the people that take time all year ‘round to cosplay, such as myself, they put together amazing costumes. A few really talented people in our cosplay community such as Andy Fay (on left) as Gambit and Teno Dulina (on right) as Iron Man to name a few, add to the fun and excitement of these events.

Dallas Comic Con is rapidly growing every year. The next event will be at the Dallas Convention Center on May 16 -18, which has roughly 3 to 4 times more space than the Ivring Convention Center, with such guests as Stan Lee, William Shatner, Nathan Fillion (Castle, Firefly), and Robert England (Nightmare on Elm Street) and many more.

You can show your support by going to and getting your tickets today. Five words that would this sum up this expo would be “awesome all the way around.”

Hats off to the team of Dallas Sci-fi Expo; one of the best Comic Cons in Texas.
